Sting Defeat Windsor Spitfires in Sarnia

Sean Josling scored twice and Justin Fazio made 43 saves as the Sarnia Sting defeated the Windsor Spitfires 4-2 at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena Wednesday night

Ryan McGregor and Windsor native Anthony Salinitri had the other goals for the Sting (30-29-6-1) who clinched the eighth and final play-off spot in the Ontario Hockey League’s Western Conference with the victory. Salintri’s 26th goal of the season came in the second period and proved to be the eventual game-winner.

Sarnia’s Jordan Kyrou was held pointless and saw his 30 game point-scoring streak snapped. The right-winger’s streak was the longest in the OHL during the 2016-17 season.

Aaron Luchuk and Hayden McCool both scored for the Spitfires (40-17-5-3) while Mario Culina, who was pulled for an extra skater with just over two minutes remaining in the third period, made 23 saves.

Windsor lost defenceman Jalen Chatfield, who signed an entry-level contract with the Vancouver Canucks earlier this week, due to an unknown injury in the first period and he did not return to the game.

The Windsor Spitfires schedule has them return to action Thursday night when they host the Owen Sound Attack in their last regular season game at the WFCU Centre this season.
