Stuff The Truck With Back-To-School Supplies At Windsor City FC Soccer Game
Comfort comes in many ways – and taking care of our youth with backpacks and supplies is a good start. Combine that with a fun sport like soccer and it’s a win for everyone!
On Friday, July 26, 2024 Absolute Comfort Control Services will have a truck at the Windsor City FC Soccer Game collecting school supplies in support of United Way’s Backpacks for Success Program.
“We want to support an up-and-coming sports team like this, and being part of such an amazing community initiative is a great way to do that” says Bryan Hazzard, of Absolute Comfort. “We are very family-focused, and supporting children’s initiatives like this allows us to give back to the awesome community that has supported us. This is a great fit for our goal to help support our clients and our community.”
The Backpacks for Success program provides students in kindergarten through grade 12 in Windsor-Essex County with backpacks filled with grade-appropriate supplies. Backpacks will be distributed to students through United Way and other local community programs this year.
The public is invited to collect and bring new backpacks and school supplies – lined paper, pens, pencils, coloured pencils, erasers, pencil cases, binders, scientific calculators, etc. – to the event. Monetary donations will be accepted as well. United Way’s goal is to fill 2,000 backpacks with school supplies by August 12, 2024.
Vancho Cirovski, President of the Windsor TFC Soccer Academy Club, thanks the Absolute Comfort Control Services, a local heating and cooling company servicing Windsor Essex for over 15 years, for their support. Not only have they sponsored the game, but have purchased 100 tickets to donate to the students, families, and partners of United Way’s programs.
Windsor City FC is part of League1 Ontario Premier Division, a semi-professional province-wide league. Windsor TFC is a regional youth soccer academy and has been present in Essex County for 10 years as a youth and competitive travel club.
Elizabeth Elias-Hernandez, of Pirkko Marketing, created this event as part of her goal to bring awareness to this pro-level soccer team while giving back to our Windsor Essex community with community partners and the support of local businesses.
“When we work together with businesses, with sports organizations and our youth we can make our community stronger,” says Elias-Hernandez. “These games are also affordable for families. As a mom to four children myself, I am happy to help get more people out to games too!”
So come on out on Friday, July 26th at 7 pm at St. Clair College Acumen Stadium and help stuff the truck! Tickets are $10 and admission for kids under 13 is free.
