Team Canada Goes For IIHF Gold

Dominique Ducharme, head coach, Canada’s National Junior Team

“If you want to be physical, if you want to take time and space away, you need to be skating. When we have success, we’re skating, and we did – we were getting there, we were having good sticks, we were physical, we were taking time and space away from them.

“We’re learning every day, and we learned when we played the U.S. the first time. In every game that we’ve played, and even tonight, there are a lot of good things about tonight, [but] we’ve got to get back at it tomorrow and be even better.

“Playing for gold. Playing in Toronto, or Montreal, or Europe, we’re playing for gold. It’s great to be playing at home, to have the crowd behind us. NHL teams, junior teams, [work] to get the home-ice advantage. It’s great to have the support. But we’re focusing on the way we play, on the way we prepare, and we control what we can control and we’ll be ready for tomorrow night’s game.”
