The Drive fall as Quinn Cook scored 21 points as the Canton Charge beat Grand Rapids 113-108 on Wednesday evening in front of 2,015 fans at the DeltaPlex Arena.

THE DRIVE, whose parent team is the Detroit Pistons, snaps a five-game winning streak and falls to 10-9 while the Canton Charge, the affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers, improves to 9-11.

Cook, a guard out of Duke University, was 7-of-17 from the field and had six assists. John Holland and Nick Minnerath each finished with 19 points. Michael Stockton had 18 points and a game-high nine assists, both season highs for the point guard out of Wesminster College. Juvonte Reddic added 11 points and eight rebounds.

Spencer Dinwiddie, who is on assignment from the Pistons, had a game-high 25 points for Grand Rapids. Henry Sims had a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds and Ryan Boatright had 16 points and four assists.

The Drive coach Otis Smith was ejected with 5:24 left in the game after receiving back-to-back technical fouls. The Charge made 3-of-4 free throws as a result to go up 106-100.

Holland drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer to end the third quarter to give the Charge a 90-86 lead. He then scored the first five points of the fourth quarter.

Stockton drained two 3-pointers in the second quarter to help the Charge go on a 12-4 run to cut the Drive lead to 42-40. Holland hit a jump shot with 3 minutes left in the first half to take a 53-52.

Pointer and Holland each had 11 points at halftime with the Charge leading 59-56.

Sims got a technical foul with 8 minutes to go into the first quarter. The center out of Georgetown then proceeded to score the next five points for Grand Rapids to tie the game at 13-13.

Grand Rapids’ leading scorer, Devin Ebanks, left the game in the first of the third quarter and did  not return. The 6-foot-9 forward, who averages 19.1 points per game, finished with nine points.

Before the game, the Charge announced they released guard Kevin Olekaibe.

Canton continues its four-game road trip on Jan. 15 with a 7 p.m. EST contest at the Maine Red Claws. Grand Rapids next plays at the Iowa Energy on Jan. 15 at 8 p.m. EST
