VICIS Announces ZERO1 YOUTH Helmet

NFL’s Top-Ranked Helmet Adapted for Kids

SEATTLE, Sept. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Today, VICIS, Inc. announced its plan to introduce the ZERO1 YOUTH helmet, the youth version of its top-rated ZERO1 model. The ZERO1 YOUTH football helmet incorporates technology from the ZERO1, currently worn by hundreds of professional athletes and players at more than 100 NCAA programs and 1000 high schools. The ZERO1 YOUTH is engineered specifically for young players and the impacts they encounter on the field.

VICIS reinvented the football helmet when it introduced the ZERO1 to NFL and NCAA teams in 2017. The helmet ranked first in NFL / NFLPA’s Helmet Laboratory Testing Performance in both 2017 and 2018.  In 2018 VIRGINIA TECH® HELMET RATINGS, which rates helmets based on the impact frequency and severity observed in high school and collegiate play, the ZERO1 ranked first and was awarded the highest available “5 STAR” rating.

VICIS has now brought the scientific rigor and creativity behind the ZERO1 to youth football with the ZERO1 YOUTH helmet.  Like its varsity counterpart, the ZERO1 YOUTH features a deformable outer shell and unique columnar layer designed to slow impact forces like a car bumper. The helmet features a lightweight, compact design tailored to youth anatomies and offers the industry’s widest field of view, allowing young players to see more of the field and react more quickly to potential impacts.

“While we started at football’s highest level (introducing the top-ranked ZERO1 to NFL and NCAA players), our founding mission has always been to protect kids. The announcement and forthcoming availability of the ZERO1 YOUTH helmet is gratifying to everyone at VICIS who has worked so hard to develop this outstanding new technology.”

Dave Marver, VICIS CEO and co-founder

Recognizing the importance of great fit, the ZERO1 YOUTH offers the AXIS Fit System® and DLTA Pods™, which can accommodate the wide range of head shapes and sizes found in youth football.  DLTA Pods™ allow coaches and parent volunteers to custom fit a team of kids quickly and efficiently while offering the flexibility to fit multiple players over a helmet’s lifetime.

VICIS is a Seattle-based company focused on sports protective technologies. Its inaugural product, the ZERO1 football helmet, launched in 2017 and ranked first in 2017 and 2018 NFL/NFLPA Helmet Performance testing, first in the 2018 Virginia Tech STAR Helmet Ratings, and was named one of TIME Magazine’s 25 Best Inventions of 2017.
