Vipers Year End Awards Banquet
The LaSalle Vipers handed out their end-of-season team awards Tuesday night at their annual Year-End Awards Banquet at the Walkerville Brewery.
The event, catered by Vesta Pizzeria, saw more than 100 guests gather to celebrate the 2015-16 season.
Team Captain Nathan Veres was the recipient of three awards, named the Most Valuable Player, Hardest Worker (for the third straight season), and Defenseman of the Year.
Brett Primeau and Liam MacDougall were named co-winners of the Playoff MVP award, while Daniel Beaudoin earned the Desire, Dedication, and Character award.
Nolan Gardiner was named the team’s Rookie of the Year, and defenceman Brett Banwell was named the Most Improved Player.
Forward Eric Kirby was selected as the Most Sportsmanlike player, and Tyler Russell was this year’s Unsung Hero. The Unsung Hero award was new this year, created by Viper’s Head Coach Bill Bowler.
The point, goal, and plus/minus leaders were Liam MacDougall, Manny Silverio, and Nathan Savage, respectively, with MacDougall and Silverio also receiving Player(s) of the Year honours and Savage receiving the Defensive Forward award.
Forward Connor Rosaasen and goalie Eli Billing were named the winner of The P.U.C.K. Stops Here Community Service award. This honour goes to the player(s) who goes above and beyond to give back to the community. The award is named after the Vipers outreach program.
Head Coach Bill Bowler was excited to honour his players. “What a great way to close out the season. It’s always a nice evening and it’s fun to recognize the individuals who make this such a great organization.”
The Vipers enjoyed celebrating another successful season and look forward to next year.
