BIKE TO WORK ON JUNE 3RD AND GET A FREE BREAKFAST FROM THE WBC! Annual cycling celebration to be co-hosted by Windsor Bicycling Committee and CBC once again

Join the Windsor Bicycling Committee (WBC) as we travel some of Windsor’s bike lanes, trails and signed routes to get to work (or school or the shops… anywhere you need to go as part of daily life), on the morning of Friday, June 3rd, 2016.

We’ll leave bright and early at 7:15 am from Optimist Memorial Park (1075 Ypres Avenue) in South Walkerville, make our way to Ottawa Street and then go down Lincoln Road to meet the Riverfront Trail on our journey to the CBC at Riverside and Crawford, arriving by 8 am. Participants can also just meet us at the CBC.

Once at the CBC, participants will enjoy a complimentary bagel breakfast with coffee, juice and fresh fruit. We’ll also give away bicycle safety devices and announce the recipient of the 2016 Commuter of the Year Award.

Do you know a dedicated bicycle commuter? Someone who goes the extra mile to integrate cycling into their day-to-day lives and encourages others to do the same, even if only through their example? Bicycle commuters epitomize the way in which health, the environment and our community benefit from bicycle use.

If you know a seasoned or new commuter who should be recognized, tell us their story! The Windsor Bicycling Committee is holding a Bike Commuter of the Year contest and the winner will receive a commemorative plaque, along with a $500 gift certificate for repairs and accessories, courtesy of our friends at the City Cyclery.

All entries must include the nominee’s name and e-mail address and a brief write-up (200 words or less) of why they deserve the Bike Commuter of the Year Award. The nominee must live, work or study in Windsor. Contest closes May 25, 2016 at noon and the winner will be announced at the Bike to Work Day breakfast, on June 3. Self-nominations are welcome.
