Windsor Express lit up by London Lightning 95-79

Windsor Express, Brandon Robinson & Express Win at the Colosseum

The Windsor Express dropped their second game of the season to the London Lightning, 95-79 at Budweiser Gardens.

The Windsor Express (0-2) was off to a quick start with Maurice Bolden’s three pointer to open the quarter. Despite missing three layups in a row, London (2-1) was able to grab a lead midway through the quarter, 10-5.

London would finish the first quarter with a 21-12 advantage.

The second quarter opened with back-to-back three pointers from Tyshawn Patterson and Chris Commons.The Lightning closed the half with a 15 point lead over the Express, 46-31.

Offensive struggles continued for the Windsor Express in the third quarter, as London went on a 3-0 run after a timeout. Shooting struggles continued for Windsor throughout the quarter, giving London a double-digit lead. A three pointer from Jeremy Wise at the buzzer ends the quarter, extending London’s lead, 74-52.

In the last quarter, Shaquille Keith fouled out with 9:55 to go in the game, and London had their largest lead of the game, 72-59. The momentum began to shift back to the Express when Maurice Bolden drained a three pointer with just over three minutes left. The momentum from the Express was not enough, as the Lightning ended up with the ball and let the clock run down with 25 seconds left.
Kirk Williams Jr recorded his first double double of the season with 14 points and a game high 11 rebounds. Chris Commons had 13 points of his own.

Stephen Maxwell put up a game high 17 points. Tyshawn Patterson and Chad Posthumus had 15 points apiece.

The Windsor Express play their next game on the road against the Orangeville A’s on Friday, January 1st at 7:00pm. The Express return to the WFCU on Saturday January 2nd to host the Niagara River Lions at 7:30pm.
