The Windsor Express (2-2) won their second game in a three game stretch against the visiting Niagara River Lions (1-2), with a final score of 118-115.
The first quarter opened up with Chris Commons sinking a hook shot. Windsor held Niagara off defensively, not allowing them to score a basket for two minutes. Windsor lead the entire quarter, and closed the first with a 28-20 advantage.
Jonathan Dunn started the second quarter off with a three pointer to bring the score within four, but Tony Bennett responds right after with a bucket to keep the Express in the lead. The Express held the lead for the remainder of the second quarter and went into halftime with a 56-52 lead.
The Niagara River Lions came back in the third quarter and took the lead a few times. However, Windsor came out and closed out the third quarter with an 88-87 lead.
Da’Quan Cooks hit a jumper to start off the final quarter of the game, and Brandon Robinson responded with a three pointer to keep the Express in the lead.
Sammy Zeglinski attempted a three pointer in the last few seconds of the game to seal the win, but it bounced off the rim, and the Express walked away with a win, 118-115.
Brandon Robinson put up a game high 35 points for the Express. Chris Commons and Tony Bennett each had 29 points of their own.
Adrian Moss had 12 assists and 7 steals, a game high.
Logan Stutz of the Niagara River Lions had a double double (34 points, 13 rebounds). Sammy Zeglinski
also had a double double (26 points, 18 assists).
The Express will close their three game stretch on the road against the London Lightning on
Sunday, January 3rd at 2:00pm.
The next Windsor Express home game will be on Sunday, January 10th at The WFCU Centre, with a 2:00pm start.
