3 - NEW BOOK ON TIGERS GREAT ALAN TRAMMELL

“THREE: A SALUTE TO ALAN TRAMMELL”

No player respected the game of baseball more than Alan Trammell, and in turn, no player has been respected by those in the game more than Trammell. Or “Tram” to his friends and fans.

Now Tigers fans can relive his Hall of Fame career with the second book in the Detroit Tigers Legends series: “Three: A Salute to Alan Trammell.” This collection of stories, vignettes and photographs captures what Trammell meant – and still means – to the Tigers franchise, his teammates, loyal fans and to the entire baseball world. Each book is individually numbered, making it a must-have Tigers collectible.

“Three: A Salute to Alan Trammell” – written by Hall of Fame baseball writer Tom Gage – features more than 170 pages chronicling Tram’s baseball career, including photos from his family’s personal collection. The book retails for $40 and is available at Comerica Park.

Trammell’s 20 seasons with the Tigers featured six All-Star appearances, four Gold Glove awards and three Silver Sluggers.

As a career highlight, he was named the Most Valuable Player of the 1984 World Series for hitting .450. He also was thrilled to go out the way he came in – singling to center for both his first Major League hit in 1977 and his last in 1996.

But it always started with defense for Tram. He was among the most dependable shortstops of all time.
