Red Bull GRC visits MCAS Troops in New River, N.C.

After an incredibly popular and successful debut last year, Red Bull GRC visits Marine Corps Air Station New River this weekend for the second straight year. This year’s event, expanded to a doubleheader after hosting a single round last year, marks the halfway point of the 2016 Red Bull GRC season.

Newly expanded doubleheader runs on active military base. Drivers will be greeted with a brand new course this weekend, running in the opposite direction of last year’s track and featuring the highest dirt percentage of the season so far. In the buildup to the on-track action, many of Red Bull GRC’s top drivers including Steve Arpin, Patrik Sandell, and 2014 Supercar champion Joni Wiman engaged with Marines in simulation shooting drills, hangar and paddock tours, and ride-alongs for specially selected service members.

Two-time series champion Tanner Foust leads the Supercar field into this weekend, carrying a 33-point lead in the standings over a field that includes Arpin, Sandell, Brian Deegan, and defending Supercar champion Scott Speed. Defending GRC Lites champion Oliver Eriksson and last year’s New River winner Alex Keyes headline the Lites class. This weekend’s action is also special as Subaru Rally Team USA, with drivers Bucky Lasek and Sverre Isachsen, returns to Red Bull GRC for the first time in 2016.
