Skate Lakeshore Receives Jumpstart Sport Relief Fund Grant
In February, Canadian Tire Corporation announced an additional $12 million commitment to Jumpstart’s Sport Relief Fund to help sport and recreation organizations build back sport and play in Canada.
Jumpstart conducted a State of Sport study via Ipsos which revealed the pandemic has not only impacted current access to sport and play but has real long-term effects as well.
Skate Lakeshore and the communities it serves have experienced the impact of the pandemic first-hand.
They recently received confirmation that they will be provided with grant support through the last round of Jumpstart’s Sport Relief Fund.
In 2021, Jumpstart has now disbursed funding to more than 1,200 organizations across Canada through Jumpstart’s Sport Relief Fund. Organizers says they are beyond grateful to receive this news and know the positive impact it will have on sport and recreation organizations, and ultimately, on kids across our community.
With the $10,000 Jumpstart’s support, they will be able to develop programs and create a fun learning environment.
Purchasing of new group kits, bright group cones and additional teaching aids; Invest in our future to allow better opportunity for advertising sponsorships and hire additional help to better service new skaters!
“It is finally exciting to see everyone back on the ice. With the new tools and our exciting Synchro program we can’t wait to start up the season”.
Sarah Malott, President, Skate Lakeshore
Skate Lakeshore has been providing local youth with the opportunity to learn and develop skating skills over the last 30 years.
Organizers, along with Skate Canada have developed programs to build confidence, dedication and skills so all members of the community can enjoy the sport of skating.
Organizers say they are proud of all skaters who reach their personal goals in both Skate Lakeshore’s recreational and competitive programs.
Skaters are given the opportunity to represent Lakeshore in local, regional, provincial & national competitions. Skate Lakeshore also provides a mentoring program to encourage giving back to our community and the opportunity to develop coaching skills. Some of the current coaches were once Skate Lakeshore amateur skaters.
