Sun Parlour Female Hockey Association Announces the Annual Windsor Wild Winter Classic

The Sun Parlour Female Hockey Association (SPFHA) has announced the return of the Windsor Wild Winter Classic Female Hockey Tournament. The event will take place from January 2nd through January 4th at the WFCU Centre and Forest Glade Arenas.

This year, SPFHA will welcome 54 female hockey teams from across Ontario, Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana for three days of high-energy competition and sportsmanship.

“This tournament is all about providing female athletes access to this incredible game. It remains a community staple that fosters a love for the sport while promoting player development within an environment of respect, pride, and empowerment.” –  Rebecca Reaume, Executive Vice-President of SPFHA

Tournament Highlights:

  • Kick-off: Games begin Friday, January 2nd, at 10:00 AM.
  • Skills Competition: Join us Friday night at 8:30 PM at the WFCU Corporal Grenon rink. Inspired by the NHL All-Star weekend, each team will send representatives to compete in events like Fastest Skater and Shot Accuracy.
  • Championship Sunday: Following round-robin play through Saturday, the quarter and semi-finals begin Sunday morning, with all division championship games slated for early Sunday afternoon.

Established in 1993, the SPFHA is a non-profit organization and the first program in the Windsor-Essex region dedicated exclusively to female hockey. Today, it serves approximately 450 players and is a proud member of the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association (OWHA), the largest female hockey body in the world.
